Forces of Nature #3

The Ponta Delgada – Azores 2027 bid for European Capital of Culture has launched the “Forces of Nature” photographic series, by the photographer Paulo Goulart. The aim is to show that our nature is human, by showing people that build the culture of this place.

Who is he? The eternal, ubiquitous question to which he seeks to answer every day of his existence. He is someone who builds himself every day, a mixture of idealization and edification. He is an Azorean, from São Miguel, a professor and a writer. He is Pedro Paulo, as his childhood friends would say.

The space in which he was photographed is emblematic, because it is associated with the history of its parish, Ginetes, full of symbolism and legends, and because it is part of his childhood imaginary, a space for games and mysteries. "It's magical and in it we find the inspiring freshness of the island." Precisely because of these condiments that it has, it was also a chosen space for some scenes from his historical novel “Cinzas de Sabrina”.
