The next Portuguese European Capital of Culture will be known today

The announcement of the Portuguese city that will get the title of European Capital of Culture in 2027 will be made today, at a press conference that takes place in Lisbon. The session is scheduled for 4pm (local time, 3pm in the Azores), and will be broadcasted here. Ponta Delgada, Aveiro, Braga and Évora are the four running cities.
The bids had the opportunity of further developing their bid books in this stage of the contest. This, as well as the city visits made by the jury and the presentations, are the evaluation elements.
Ponta Delgada – Azores 2027 was the last bid to present its project to the international jury, yesterday, in Lisbon.
The sessions were held before 11 international panel members. The Ponta Delgada delegation had 7 members of the team – António Pedro Lopes, Diana Diegues, João Rebelo Costa, Patrícia Romeiro, Inês Linhares Dias, Rita Serra e Silva and Pedro Silva –, the mayor of Ponta Delgada, Pedro Nascimento Cabral, and the ambassadors for Terceira and São Miguel Islands, Vanessa Canto and Joana Borges Coutinho. They presented the bid book and answered to the questions posed by the jury.
On Friday, an entourage of four members of the jury, a member of the European Commission and a representative of GEPAC visited São Miguel island.
These moments were opportunities to reinforce and substantiate the vision developed by the Ponta Delgada – Azores 2027 bid for a European Capital of Culture that goes from the city of Ponta Delgada to the entire region.
