These are our 18 ambassadors

The Ponta Delgada – Azores 2027 bid for European Capital of Culture wants to involve the Azorean region and show Europe the advantages of archipelagic thought. We want to walk towards an alternative model to global thought, based on the interchange between islands, that doesn't cause loss of identity, but rather enriches it.

For that, and because our nature is human, we wanted, from an early stage, to bring people to the center of this process. In the first phase, we have identified nine people, one from each island, to embrace the cause of the candidacy and help promote it next to their communities. Because we want to continue to grow, our nine ambassadors have multiplied, and are now 18.

We have gathered artists, cultural agentes, tourism, communication and education professionals, from all walks of life, but with a common will to change the world. All of them believe that culture can be a vehicule for that transformation. That's why they've accepted the challenge of taking the Ponta Delgada – Azores 2027 cause to their communities.
