Forces of Nature #16

The Ponta Delgada – Azores 2027 bid for European Capital of Culture has launched the “Forces of Nature” photographic series, by the photographer Paulo Goulart. The aim is to show that our nature is human, by showing people that build the culture of this place.

Maria Cabral is a tourist guide who explores the hidden corners of São Miguel's nature either on foot, by jeep, or by van. She also promotes its culture with city tours in Ponta Delgada, which pass through some points of interest such as Forte de São Brás, Portas da Cidade and Mercado da Graça. She considers Nature a Sanctuary, to be loved and respected. For Maria, being in communion with Nature is an appeal to the five senses because "Nature gives us everything".
