Forces of Nature #19

The Ponta Delgada – Azores 2027 bid for European Capital of Culture has launched the “Forces of Nature” photographic series, by the photographer Paulo Goulart. The aim is to show that our nature is human, by showing people that build the culture of this place.

Mário Roberto is an artist that works in several disciplines, like drawing, painting, engraving, photography, video and literature.

From the hiking tours he did from his native Vila Franca do Campo to Lagoa do Fogo, to the ever present relationship of that place with agriculture and fisheries, he has developed a close connection with nature.

That connection can be found in his work, from his first days of painting, to more recently, when he started exploring the landscape in watercolors, looking for the abstract, rather than the figurative.
