Hand in Hand 2nd edition: Faz com as tuas mãos

In the coming weeks, we will be showing the results of the ideas selected in the second edition of Hand in Hand, a microfinancing program for community projects promoted by Ponta Delgada – Azores 2027 in partnership with Cresaçor – Solidarity Economy Cooperative.
Faz com as tuas mãos is a project created by the product designer Mariana Costa e Silva, whom has launched this initiative in 2018, as a way of continuing to practice her profession in a more dedicated and sustainable way. These are community workshops for building furniture and toys with easily accessible materials and tools. The designer worked with Casa do Povo de Santa Bárbara, in Terceira island. For the day care centre, she was asked to design a stool to support the feet, a wood step to help the elderly into the van, an oratory and a perpetual calendar. In the afterschool programme of the same parish, the children suggested a playhouse and a seesaw. All of the pieces were built by the students of Senior University.
