Ponta Delgada - Azores 2027 promotes public session in São Miguel

The Ponta Delgada - Azores candidacy team for European Capital of Culture (ECoC) in 2027 is going to resume the 9 Islands in Conversation sessions, starting with São Miguel island.

Next Wednesday, June 22nd, between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm, we invite everyone to come and meet us and discuss the project at Coliseu Micaelense.

In this first session, the candidacy consultants, Ulrich Fuchs and Pia Leydolt, will present a context of what a European Capital of Culture is and what impact this title can have on the city, as well as how to reach the public, and to integrate the European dimension into the programme.

The project artistic director,António Pedro Lopes, will do a presentation about our candidacy, and there is still room to debate with the participants, questions related to the candidacy, such as strategies to engage new publics and communities and how to combine heritage and tradition with new innovative and experimental methods.

In addition to these face-to-face sessions in all islands, the team has an Open Door on June 24th and July 15th, 22nd and 29th.

Open Door sessions can take place in person, at the Ponta Delgada Municipal Cultural Center, in other places of the São Miguel island, where a team member will travel to, or online.
