The Ponta Delgada – Azores 2027 bid will participate in the debate "Territories and Multiple Identities: The Challenge of the Next European Capital of Culture", that happens on October 24, in Teatro São Luiz, in Lisbon, and gathers the final four Portuguese cities. This initiative is part of the Cycle on Public Policies for Culture, "Free Culture Course", coordinated by Tiago Bartolomeu Costa.
The debate is moderated by João Gaspar and Tiago Bartolomeu Costa and will have the artistic director of Ponta Delgada – Azores 2027, António Pedro Lopes, Aveiro 2027's cultural programme coordinator, Martim Sousa Tavares, Braga 2027's executive and programme coordinator, Joana Fernandes, and Évora 2027's team coordinator, Paula Garcia.
There will also be a lesson by Miguel Honrado and a presentation by Cristina Farinha.
Portugal receives the ECoC title in 2027 for the fourth time, after Lisbon, in 1997, Porto, in 2001, and Guimarães, in 2012.
Ponta Delgada, Aveiro, Braga and Évora were selected from 12 candidate cities to go on to the final phase. The revelation of which city gets the title will happen on December 7, at a press conference in Centro Cultural de Belém, in Lisbon.
