Ponta Delgada – Azores 2027 participates in Cresaçor's StayOn project

The Ponta Delgada – Azores 2027 team is associating with StayOn: a community-based and driven project, promoted by Cresaçor – Regional Solidarity Economy Cooperative.
This initiative is being implemented since 2021 and will continue until 2024 and intends to "create conditions that allow young people who neither study nor work (NEET) to remain in their rural territories, granting access to opportunities, benefits, services and jobs", explains the promoter. The project is financed by EEA Grants for youth employment and involves Portugal, Greece, Italy, Germany, Poland, Ireland and Slovenia.
In the Azores, the project is managed by Cresaçor and will be implemented in São Miguel and Terceira. The team has accompanied, between March and August, 144 young people, striving for their "personal and professional growth, and offering each of them personalised training".
The second big phase of this project happens today and tomorrow, in both São Miguel and Terceira islands, with the Laboratories of Co-Innovation. For this stage, the participants will have the opportunity to share their opinion, identifying issues to be improved where they live. They will also be challenged to present potential solutions.
Together with local companies, they will also have the opportunity to idealise a product, an idea or a service that they find useful, convenient and necessary in their communities. All of this will result in a Youth Manifesto, a document that represents the groups' effort in strengthening their civic participation and adopting a more active role in decision-making.
Ponta Delgada – Azores 2027 's project manager João Rebelo Costa will participate in this initiative as a mentor.
The project has other partners, such as the Regional Directorate for Professional Qualification and Employment, the Regional Directorate of Youth, the Social Security Institute of the Azores, Municipalities, and several other local institutions and associations.
